Rise of Mythos is a fantastic CCG that strays a bit from the traditional concepts of the genre and adds something new into the mix which is the addition of certain RPG elements such as class selection to change up the gameplay a bit. It’s a bit of a risk as these are two completely different genres but it ultimately pays off quite nicely as this is a fantastic game that’s worth trying out due to its uniqueness.
It’s a pretty commonly known thing that CCG games have a tendency of consisting of a fairly steep learning curve so it’s quite hard to get the hang of things early on and a proper tutorial so it’s pretty crucial that these games consist of a good tutorial sequence and fortunately, Rise of Mythos has exactly that. When you enter the game for the first time, you’ll be introduced to things with a great tutorial sequence that spans itself across your first few levels. It’ll teach you all you need to know about the game such as how to duel, how to build up a card and pretty much all the other basics.
The gameplay of Rise of Mythos, as mentioned before, is mostly based around the concepts of CCG but there are some interesting RPG concepts tossed into the mix. The main RPG element you’ll see is of course the fact that you get to choose a class. Choosing a class has a massive impact on your gameplay as it not only affects what card you’re able to add to your deck but also what kinds of special skill-sets you can utilize so it’s crucial to pick a class that suits your play-style rather than picking a random one.
Of course the key elements of CCG games are all here. The main thing people expect from a game of this genre are highly strategic, intense duels and Rise of Mythos without a doubt delivers. There are just so many factors that come into play during matches making them highly skill based and in favor of the players that have done some research and know more about the game. PvP is brilliant and duels can go up to 4v4 which is pretty massive and is tons of fun especially for a CCG game as players will have to play strategically as a team to come out on top.
One really unique thing about Rise of Mythos is the challenge mode. In this mode you can team up with three other players to fight in increasingly difficult battles in the challenge hall. This is like the equivalent of dungeons in RPGs and adds a lot of depth to the game.
Rise of Mythos doesn’t just play well, it’s a really good looking game as well. The card designs, animations and textures all look rather stunning. The battlefields are varied and of many different kinds and its quite enjoyable even for spectators to watch the matches due to the amazing special effects and such.
Rise of Mythos has a cash shop where the currency utilized is tokens which are of course acquired either through various in-game means or with real world money. The cash shop has a lot of variety and you’ll be able to purchase a ton of useful things off it such as booster packs for your deck, rare cards and related stuff.
